About

This is Our Story

FIRST THING...
We want you to relax. We know it can be confusing and intimidating coming to a church for the first time. We will not single you out or ask you to stand. We want you to feel welcomed and free to check us out, no strings attached.

ENTHUSIASM
Expect to visit an exciting church service with practical teaching and creativity. We will give you the Word on Sunday that you can use on Monday. We want you to learn and grow at your own pace in Christ at New Genesis.

KIDS AND YOUTH ARE IMPORTANT
Your kids are the most important thing to you, so they are they are a priority for us. We work hard to ensure your children have a great experience that is safe, fun, spiritually challenging, and appropriate for their age group. We do background checks on all our volunteers so you know your children will be safe. Also, your children are welcome to worship with you until you are comfortable at our church.

FANCY DRESS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT
Expect a casual environment where you can come as you are. Wear shorts, sandals, whatever. Just wear something!

ENERGETIC, FAITH-FILLED MUSIC
Expect to hear music that brings you closer to the heart of God.

A PLACE WHERE NO PERFECT PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED
No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, you are welcome at New Genesis. No one at this church is perfect. We have all blown it. Now, we are just trying to figure out together what is the next right step and how to put that step into action.

MESSAGES THAT CONNECT
We believe that growing is about discovering what God wants for us, and what God wants from us. So, our messages are expository in content. We work hard to enable you to understand the mind and heart of Jesus Christ. We like to have fun, so don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing. At the same time, we are convinced that applying truth to our lives makes a difference, so we do not shy away from hard subjects. We just do so with sensitivity and a focus on real-world circumstances.
The essential point is, we want to give you something on the weekend that you can put into action during the week.

Our Purpose
New Genesis exists to help people find and follow Jesus seven days a week
This is the "why" of what we do. We are convinced that every person needs and desires to know the grace and power of having an authentic, life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Strategy

We are convinced that your relationships are no accident. Every person has been placed where they are to receive God's love from someone in their relational world or to give it away to someone else.

That means the reason you have your job, the reason your kids are on that softball team, the reason you were born into your family are all the same: God wants to use you for His purposes.

That's why we work so hard to make our Sunday morning experiences as meaningful and engaging as possible. We want you to be excited about bringing your friends, co-workers, and family to church.

Our Values

Our core values define our ideals and help us measure our effectiveness in missionEverything we do revolves around five core values that keep us on track in helping people follow Jesus with their hearts and lives. These values are:

1. FOUND PEOPLE FIND PEOPLE
The people you interact with on a regular basis are a great mission field, share with them what you have found.

2. GROWING PEOPLE CHANGE
A deeper commitment and growth should be evident in the life of a follower of Christ.

3. YOU CAN'T OUTGIVE GOD
When you support God's work, He provides all you need. and more!

YOU CAN'T DO LIFE ALONE
Joining a Small Group and/or a Ministry Team will help you stay on track and gain new lifelong friends.

SAVED PEOPLE SERVE PEOPLE
We are called to serve not only each other, but also our community.

What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” ― A.W. Tozer

ABOUT GOD
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

ABOUT MANKIND
We are made in the image of God, to be like Him in character. We are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although we have tremendous potential for good, we are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates us from God. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2)

ABOUT ETERNITY
We are created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. (John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46)

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13)

ABOUT SALVATION
Salvation is a gift from God to all people. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life is assured the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith. (Romans6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)

ABOUT ETERNAL SECURITY
Because God gives eternal life through Jesus Christ, when we truly accept Him we are secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by our self-effort. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security. (John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christ-Follower with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christ-Follower seeks to live under His control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1)

ABOUT THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s Word to all mankind. Human authors wrote it, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6).

Our History
New Genesis Church is the result of a vision given Pastor James T. Hill in conjunction with him working with his Pastor, Don E. Conley, Pastor of the Encanto Southern Baptist Church to evangelize the Point Loma Area of San Diego. With the assistance of Pastor Conley and the membership of the Encanto Southern Baptist Church, the outlay of the work began in August of 2003 with the leasing of our Evangelism Center with office space and class rooms located at 3065 Rosecrans Place, San Diego.

Our first church service was held on the 18th of January, 2004 at the West City Center- 3249 Fordham Street. However, it was on August 8, 2004, that New Genesis was dedicated and Reverend Hill installed as pastor by Pastor Don E. Conley. New Genesis Church moved its worship location to Dewey Elementary School on June 10th 2006.
